As part of the ambitious SWITCH project, the Upskilling Labs are set to launch in 2025, aiming to empower young people with critical skills to thrive in an interconnected, digital world. These Labs form a cornerstone of SWITCH’s mission to foster intercultural dialogue and equip youth with tools for personal and professional growth. By blending innovative methodologies and virtual platforms, Upskilling Labs promise to be a transformative space for learning and collaboration.
Through a structured Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) framework, the Upskilling Labs will provide participants with tailored modules on transversal skills, such as teamwork, problem-solving, entrepreneurial thinking, and intercultural communication. Designed for young people from higher education institutions, youth organizations, and local bodies, these Labs are much more than a traditional learning experience—they’re an interactive journey into professional and personal development.
Participants from the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Kosovo, Albania, and Montenegro will come together in these virtual laboratories to engage in moderated online discussions, role-playing simulations, and collaborative tasks. These activities will be guided by experienced facilitators from partner organizations, ensuring a meaningful and supportive learning environment. To break down barriers and maximize participation, the Labs will use localized language translations for modules while maintaining English as the primary language for live sessions.
Each Upskilling Lab will be structured into cycles to ensure that activities are both accessible and impactful. Across two cycles, participants will engage in five Labs per cycle, each spanning 30 hours. These sessions will not only cultivate professional skills but also enhance participants’ ability to collaborate across cultures and navigate the complexities of global citizenship.
By focusing on inclusivity, the Upskilling Labs are committed to reaching disadvantaged youth who face social, economic, and geographical barriers. This approach aligns with the broader SWITCH objectives of equity and social cohesion, ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to participate, learn, and grow.
For Stichting yEUth, the Upskilling Labs are an essential part of creating a future where youth can confidently contribute to and benefit from our digital world. By integrating non-formal educational techniques and fostering connections among participants, these Labs pave the way for a generation of young leaders equipped to tackle challenges with creativity and resilience.
Stay tuned as we unveil more details about the Upskilling Labs in the coming months. Join us in creating a dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative future with SWITCH!
