Proxymeeti Has Been Accepted:

A New ESC Project Starting in August

We are happy to share that Proxymeeti, a new youth-led project supported by Stichting yEUth, has been accepted under the European Solidarity Corps.

The project will officially start in August 2026 and will run for 10 months in Leiden. Proxymeeti was created by a group of young people who wanted to respond to a challenge they had personally observed: many migrants, expats, international students and local youth live in the same city, but often remain separated in their own social and cultural circles.

With the motto “Cultures Closer Together,” Proxymeeti aims to create welcoming spaces where people can meet, exchange languages, share stories and build meaningful connections. The project will include in-person language learning events, monthly online exchanges, intercultural potlucks and digital community activities.

A key part of the project will be its focus on non-formal learning. Instead of traditional language classes, Proxymeeti will offer relaxed and community-based spaces where participants can practise languages naturally while learning about different cultures and experiences.

The project will also create a digital handbook featuring language notes, cultural information, testimonials and creative contributions from participants. This handbook will remain available after the project ends, helping the impact of Proxymeeti continue beyond its 10-month duration.

Stichting yEUth is proud to support this initiative and looks forward to working with the young team behind Proxymeeti as they begin their journey in August.
