#FACT: Fostering Awareness of Critical Thinking

Preparatory Meeting

Before heading to the Netherlands, the international team behind #FACT! gathered online to lay the groundwork for the project. We discussed the last things before the mobility began, and made sure we were on the same page. During the session, we focused on aligning our mission to protect democratic life and reinforce EU values against the rising tide of AI-generated falsehoods.

The meeting focussed on essential updates to make sure everyone was ready for the immersive experience in Schaijk:

  • We reviewed the 7-day schedule, which shifts from theoretical psychology and algorithm analysis to practical mastery of tools.
  • We coordinated risk-prevention strategies and ensured that dietary needs and insurance requirements were fully documented.
  • Beyond the paperwork, we established our primary communication channels on WhatsApp and Facebook to keep the brainstorming flowing.
  • Each participant was tasked with researching local instances of disinformation to bring real-world context to our workshops.

By the end of the call, the group had moved past the “planning” phase and into a state of active collaboration. Everyone left the meeting with a clear set of responsibilities and a shared motivation to build the upcoming Fake News Prevention Toolkit. The foundation is now set for a transformative week of non-formal learning and European solidarity.
