Hello, I am Inti (from the Netherlands) and I participated in this Erasmus+ youth exchange about DIY. The project was accommodated in a very beautiful city called Alcalá la real. On the first day, we started by getting to know each of the participants. We played introduction games and name games. After the introductions, we started with some DIY activities. For example, we unnailed, sanded and varnished wooden planks so they can be used in a children’s playground. We also made lamps from scratch, putting together the base of the lamp and making a lampshade. Apart from these separate DIY group activities, we also had a personal project. For the personal project, we could choose our own interest. I chose to make jewelry. I had made some easy jewels before the project but never with special equipment or any knowledge. During the project, I learned to work with new materials and equipment. A product that I am very proud of is a ring that started with a design, then I hammered the ring, engraved a small metal plate and glued the two separate parts together. I enjoyed the process and learning while doing. Apart from the DIY activities, we were also shown around the area (walking around or hiking in the hills). This was a lot of fun and perfect time to connect with the others. I am very thankful to the organizers for including these trips in the program. On the last day, we went to a beautiful spot in the hills with an amazing view, watched the sunset and shared sangria with each other. It was the best way to spend our last moments. Now, after the project, I want to continue making jewelry and trying out more advanced jewelry making methods. Gracias mucho!
