Breaking Free from Modern Addiction” (BFMA) was a youth exchange that was implemented in Ommen, the Netherlands, between 11 and 18 of September 2024.
The BFMA project gathered 40 young people from 5 different European countries (Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Spain).
Through non-formal activities we aimed to raise awareness on the topic of modern-day addictions, the causes behind and what we can do to prevent them. So, for 8 days participants worked together, carried out research, shared personal experiences, and created materials to explain modern addictions in their own unique ways. Through these activities, they developed a deeper understanding of the issue and learned how to address it creatively and effectively.
On the last day and before the project ends, we wanted, not only to share the project’s results with the local community but also, to highlight the importance and the impact an Erasmus+ project can have. To achieve this the participants prepared and successfully conducted a local dissemination activity in the city center of Ommen, where they explained the purpose of the project and raised awareness on the topic of modern addictions.
The participants started by brainstorming ideas and deciding on activities they wanted to include in the event. Then, they divided into teams with specific roles, such as project managers, artists, social media specialists, and communication coordinators. Each team worked hard to prepare for the event and make it a success. Some participants created colorful posters with key messages, while others acted as “live human libraries, and others organized slow flashmobs. As a result, the group successfully reached the local Dutch people of Ommen and they had meaningful conversations with them raising awareness for modern addictions and the Erasmus+ projects in general!
We want to thank all 40 young participants for their enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work in implementing the local dissemination activity of the youth exchange project BFMA with great success!
