MOVICAL+

TRAINING COURSE IN SPAIN

At the end of February, I had the opportunity to participate in the MOVICAL project in Gijón, Asturias: a beautiful coastal city in northern Spain. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the mix of ocean views, mountains, and rich cultural heritage. Gijón felt authentic and welcoming, and our host organization created a warm and supportive environment for all participants.

Beyond enjoying the city’s natural beauty and gastronomy, the project deeply raised my awareness of migration challenges across Europe. Through workshops and discussions, we explored the real barriers young migrants face — poverty, language difficulties, limited access to opportunities, and social exclusion. It was powerful to reflect on how these issues are not abstract concepts, but everyday realities for many people.

Meeting participants from different countries: the Netherlands, Romania, Greece, and Spain,  made the experience even richer. Sharing cultures, stories, and perspectives reminded me how diversity strengthens understanding.

MOVICAL was not just a project; it was a reminder that inclusion requires awareness, dialogue, and action from all of us.

What I appreciated most was the multi-level perspective we developed: how individuals can show empathy and support, how communities can build inclusive spaces, and how governments and institutions can design better integration policies.
