The CADPRO (Climate Awareness and Advocacy Training Program Toolkit) is one of the key educational resources developed within the ECHOES – Youth Voices for Climate Action in European Elections project. Created for youth workers, trainers and educators, the toolkit provides practical, ready-to-use activities that help young people better understand climate change while developing the skills needed to become active advocates for environmental action.

Rather than focusing only on climate science, CADPRO combines climate awareness with civic engagement, media literacy, leadership and advocacy. The toolkit encourages young people to think critically, communicate effectively and actively participate in creating positive change within their communities. It has been designed using non-formal education methods, making learning interactive, engaging and accessible for participants with different backgrounds and levels of experience.

The training programme consists of four thematic modules covering climate change awareness, climate advocacy skills, youth mobilisation and leadership for climate action. Throughout the activities, participants are encouraged to work collaboratively through discussions, simulations, storytelling, role-playing exercises and campaign design, allowing them to connect knowledge with practical action.

One of the strengths of the CADPRO Toolkit is its flexibility. Trainers can either implement the complete 32-hour programme or select individual activities depending on the needs of their group. Each activity includes detailed guidance, learning outcomes, trainer tips and printable materials, making it easy to adapt to different educational settings and local contexts.

The toolkit places young people at the centre of the learning process. By encouraging participation, reflection and teamwork, it supports the development of essential competences such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication and responsible leadership. At the same time, it helps youth workers facilitate meaningful discussions around climate challenges while inspiring young people to take informed and constructive action.
