#Cultural Storytellers
Interviews and testimonies of the participants

“Cultural Storytelling Canvas: Crafting Narratives for Inclusion, Democracy, and the Environment” (#culturalstorytellers) was a youth exchange that has been implemented in Schaijk, the Netherlands, between 04 and 13 of March 2025. The #culturalstorytellers project gathered 41 young people from 5 different European countries (Greece,Slovakia, Spain, Turkiye and Netherlands)  to provide participants the opportunity to explore various aspects of your culture, such as myths, legends, music, food, and customs, as well as pressing global issues like climate change, in an interactive and collaborative environment.

As part of the final day of the youth exchange, a series of short interviews was conducted with participants from each of the five participating countries. The aim of this activity was to gather direct feedback, insights, and reflections on the experience from the perspective of the young people involved.

In total, 18 participants took part in the interviews, sharing their impressions of the exchange, the knowledge and skills they acquired, and how the program influenced their understanding of intercultural cooperation, environmental awareness, and digital tools. In the video you can listen to participants speak about the importance of dialogue, the role of culture in building mutual understanding, and the relevance of addressing global issues through youth-led initiatives.

Participants testimonies:

The Schaijk project gave me many different perspectives. We revealed the misleading impact of stereotypes in intercultural interactions. It was a fun program where I discovered how our differences bring us together and the divisive power of prejudices.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus Youth Exchange in Schaijk. The topic of storytelling went much deeper into the context than I initially expected, but that only allowed me to learn even more than I had anticipated. It was an eye-opening experience that challenged my perspective and helped me grow in ways I hadn’t imagined.

I really enjoyed my youth exchange at Schaijk. Everything was amazing (even Dutch weather). I met wonderful people with whom we created a strong connection. I know I have friends all around the world now. During the activities, we laughed, debated, played and exchanged all together. I learned a lot during these 8 days. This experience will last long in my memory. I 100% recommend an experience like this!

Having taken part in numerous international youth projects over the years, I can confidently say that the Schaijk experience with yEUth stands out. The balance between structured learning, intercultural dialogue, and personal connection was exceptional. Even for someone who’s “seen it all,” this project offered fresh insights and genuine moments of exchange. Hats off to the team — you’ve raised the bar.

As a facilitator, it’s always inspiring to see participants truly engage with one another — and that’s exactly what happened in Schaijk. The yEUth team created the right conditions for honest conversation, creativity, and growth. Watching young people form cross-cultural bonds and challenge themselves was a privilege. I’m proud to have been part of a project that didn’t just run smoothly, but left an impact.
