Stichting YEUTH is proud to announce the successful implementation of the first three local labs organized in Leiden with local young people, as a follow-up to the first blended mobility of the PROACT project.
Under the guidance of our facilitators and inspired by the activities developed during the mobility in Athens, these workshops offered young participants the opportunity to deepen their digital skills through dynamic and interactive sessions.
The first local lab took place on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, in Leiden. During this session, participants got to know each other by sharing personal and professional experiences related to their digital skills journey. They familiarized themselves with basic yet powerful digital tools, virtually presenting themselves and exploring popular platforms used for generating audiovisual content.
The second local lab was held on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, and focused on engaging activities such as the Infographic Session, where participants prepared their own infographics using Canva. The session also introduced participants to digital skills related to AI, taught them how to search for reliable online sources, and guided them through creating content for social media.
The third local lab took place on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024, and encouraged participants to critically analyze how social media algorithms suggest content, shape interests, and present news. In addition, young people engaged in creating digital posters promoting digital safety and participated in discussions on visual communication and raising awareness on safe digital practices. This final workshop concluded with an open reflection on the overall impact of the labs and the skills they developed.
The successful implementation of these local labs marks an important step in bringing the PROACT project’s goals to local communities, promoting digital literacy, critical thinking, and creativity among young people in Leiden.
